7 btls Bourgogne blanc

Cuvee des Ormes 2013 Sylvain Dussort                £18.00                         £16.95

Outstanding white Burgundy from a tiny producer based in Meursault. From their 6.5 hectares of land, half goes into the Bourgogne Blancs, both of which they are incredibly proud of. The Cuvee des Ormes is produced from vines aged 35 to 60 years and the house style is based on elegant, mineral, terroir driven wines that really over deliver for the money. The grapes were picked early, fermented using natural yeasts in old oak barrels, and then aged on their lees in a mix of new and old oak for 12 months. The result is a sleek, classy white with delicate citrus and tropical fruit, lovely texture, firm acidity and minerality, and wonderful poise and balance. It's long, delicious and satisfying and, whilst drinking beautifully now, will age happily for 4-6 years. Given where they are and how it tastes, this is relatively a bargain.

3 btls Pecorino 2014 Tenuta Ulisse                         £12.50                         £11.50

The Pecorino grape is a legendary story of a variety that was literally brought back from the brink of extinction. The origin of the name is that the grape variety was once a favorite snack of the sheep that were often driven through vineyard lands on their way to lower pastures. In Italian Pecora means sheep. Elegant and rigorous. It is benchmark wine that embodies power and smoothness. A perfect balance of acidity and freshness, an endless strength of minerality. It is one of Abruzzo's top white wines.

This Pecorino has an aromatic citrus nose with peachy notes. There’s an array of zippy nettles, lemon and lime, ripe pear, peach and apricot, as well as subtle tropical notes. This is all balanced together with a mineral backbone and fresh, juicy acidity, as well as a great length of flavour. Its character stands out with refined dishes as it can be successfully matched with fish entrees, flavoured raw fish, shell fish, all fish dishes

3 btls Meursault Narvaux 2013

Jean-Pierre Latour-Giraud   Normal price               £ 35.55                £ 33.55

Narvaux is located above the Premier Crus of Genevrieres and Poruzots. It punches well above its weight and Latour-Giraud think so too opting to bottle their wine separately rather than blending it into the Cuvee Charles Maxime. Their wine comes from a 0.61 ha holding planted 55 years ago on the thin, poor soil and substratum of the site (great for minerality). At its best Narvaux is mineral and saline and in Pierre's hands it is of Premier Cru quality. The 2013 is an excellent example of top Burgundian Chardonnay.

2 x 50cl Oremus 2013 Late Harvest Tokay          £19.00 per 50cl   £17.00 per 50cl

Clear, bright golden colour with aromas of peach & apricot nectar, notes of tropical fruits & a touch of clay. This is a lovely, sweet dessert wine with flavours of cooked pineapple & peach - notes of brown sugar & baking spice.

A great vein of acidity, which keeps it nice and fresh.

2 btls Finca Los Prados 2014 Cabernet Malbec     £ 9.00                 £8.00

Cabernet/Malbec Los Prados is a lovely crunchy fruit-crumble wine which offers great value for money.  Here we are on Bianchi's own estate of 350 hectares in San Rafael, to the south of Mendoza city at 750 m above sea level, a modest height for this area of vine growing. Sandy, alluvial soils, cool growing conditions and hand harvesting make for a quality glass of Argentinian red even at this price. I like the freshness of the wine, not covered up by sweet oak flavours, very pleasant indeed.
