Benenden's - Your Community Shop

Welcome to Benenden's Community Shop - run by the community for the community

Benenden’s aims to stock the items that are needed by our local community and visitors, from affordable basics to local specialities and treats.  We’re keen to know if there is anything that you think we should add, so please do let us know if there is something which you would like to see on our shelves.

Whether it’s a bright summer’s day or the depths of winter Benenden’s Café will always welcome you. Enjoy a savoury snack or a cake from one of our local suppliers with a cup of tea or coffee made by our expert staff and volunteers.

Our Post Office is open whenever the shop is open; so pop in for help sending cards or presents, returning parcels, or paying bills, or Post Office or Government services.

Our cellar is full of wonderful bottles, from all your favourites, both local and far-flung, to a wide range of fine, rare and exotic wines, all at very keen prices. We also stock a wealth of top-class beers - many of them from well-regarded local breweries - as well as spirits, mixers and soft drinks.

West Kent LEADER is a source of funding available to farmers, growers, foresters, rural businesses and communities to help secure a sustainable future for rural West Kent, and have supported Benenden's with funding to acquire our:

Awnings, Cafe Barriers, Newspaper Stand, Uninterrupted Power Supply, CCTV, Fruit and Veg Chiller

The LEADER Programme is a bottom-up, community-led approach to the delivery of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE), which is funded by Defra and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) funds.
