Volunteers Needed!
Back in 2016 when Benenden’s was launched we had over sixty volunteers, but over the past ten year's this number has reduced to around twenty regular active volunteers, and we need more to support our paid staff.
So, our greatest immediate need is for volunteers to help support and run Benenden’s and the shop cannot survive without them. The lack of volunteers means both the shop and café are regularly left with a single member of staff which for the staff member in the shop leaves them having to cover the Post Office and shop till and if a delivery of goods arrives it is impossible for them to take delivery. In the café, at busy times it results in customer having to wait to be served.
The more people who volunteer the better. Our volunteer shifts are of 2.5 hours duration and if a volunteer cannot commit to a regular shift that’s no problem because they can sign-up to a vacant shift when the volunteer rotas are issued in advance covering a two-week period. Just giving a couple of hours will help a great deal. To find out more about what’s involved pop into the Shop and ask to speak to Jules or one of the supervisors.
Volunteering at Benenden’s is a fantastic way of giving something back to the community but it is also a great way of meeting people and fun!
